RESPONSIBILITIES

Your key responsibilities as an Au-Pair in Germany:

Your main responsibility will be to TAKE CARE OF THE KIDS. Your host family is putting their children in your care and they expect you to be a loving and responsible child-minder. Their children are their most valuable asset and you must take care of them in the most trustful and reliable way – just the best you can! Possible duties: Playing with them, doing handicraft work with them, reading books with them, taking them for a walk, bringing them to bed, taking them to the kindergarten or to social activities, preparing simple meals, changing nappies,… The duties obviously vary depending on the age of the children.

Another responsibility will be LIGHT HOUSEWORK. Possible duties: Tidying up the children´s room, cleaning the dishes, fill and empty the dish-washer, hovering, handling the washing machine. You should always make sure to contribute as other family members also do. Be pro-active and have a look that the house and especially the children´s rooms and your own room are always cleaned up.

Before signing the contract with the host family you will know how your 30 working hours per week are being distributed and what duties are expected from you. Your host family will set up a weekly schedule for you. There may occur alterations, so please be flexible and adapt to the changes. Your host family will appreciate it and will if possible also be responsive to your needs and wishes.
